The Hickory Crawdads seized the lead in the first inning and never looked back en route to the 7-3 win against the Charleston RiverDogs at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Thursday night. The Crawdads (32-27) took the early lead with

two runs in the top of the first inning. Luis Sardinas led off with a single; Drew Robinson walked; Hanser Alberto singled loading the bases. Jeremy Williams drove in Sardinas in from third with an infield single to short, and a throwing error on the play allowed Robinson to score for a 2-0 lead.
The Crawdads extended their lead with three more runs in the fourth inning. Kellin Deglan led off the inning with a solo home run; Alejandro Selen had a run-scoring double, and Trever Adams had an RBI single that gave Hickory a commanding 5-0 lead. Alberto drove in Sardinas with an RBI single in the sixth, and Williams led-off the seventh with a double and he eventually scored on a pair of wild pitches for a 7-1 advantage.
Sardinas, Adams, Alberto and Deglen each had two hits apiece; Williams had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in a run. Luke Jackson went five innings and gave up an earned run on five hits for his fifth win of the year; Kevin Matthews went three innings, and despite giving up two earned runs, picked up his second save of the season.

Hickory returns home for a three-game home series against the Greenville Drive starting this Friday at 7 p.m.  Don't miss Friday Night Fireworks after the game, presented by Mann Travels and KICKS 103.3FM!  Friday will also be Carnival Night, presented by Gold and Silver Assay Company!  Gates open at 6 p.m....Then on Saturday, the Crawdads take on the Drive at 6 p.m.  Myron Noodleman, the hippest nerd in 'da biz, will entertain fans of all ages throughout the game....Saturday's game is also Shred Night, presented by Enviro-Shred - bring paper documents to the ballpark to be shredded from 4 - 6 p.m. and get a FREE ticket to the game!  And don't forget to stick around after Saturday's game for Post-Game Autographs!  Gates open at 5 p.m.
