|Penny Taken By Indians In 16th Round|

Cody Penny, a rising senior at the University of North Carolina and who played at South Caldwell High School, was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 16th round of the Major League Baseball Draft Wednesday afternoon. He
was the 503rd player taken in the draft. Penny, a right hander, made 16 appearances and started two games for UNC this season. He did not have a decision and he coughed up 12 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings. He gave up seven walks and with 19 strikeouts for a 6.61 earned-run-average. As a sophomore, Penny made 22 appearances, all in relief. He was 1-0 with five saves with a 5.62 ERA.
