Senior Ryan Arrowood was in complete control Saturday night as the Appalachian State University baseball team upended Oklahoma 5-4 in the opening-round of the Charlottesville Regional in Charlottesville, Va. The Mountaineers (40-16) will play Virginia in a second-round game Sunday at a time to be announced. Arrowood had a no-htter for 6 1/3 innings before it

was broken up by Caleb Bushyhead with a one-out single in the seventh inning.  Arrowood received a standing ovation from the crowd of 2,804 that was in attendance. The right hander went 7 2/3 innings and gave up an earned run on two hits with three walks and nine strikeouts as he picked up his school record 28th career win. Noah Holmes backboned the offense with two hits and two runs-batted-in. The Mountaineers made ten hits; the Sooners (38-23) made four errors. Trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the ninth, the Sooners staged a three-run rally in the ninth against Nathan Hyatt. A pair of walks, a hit batsman, a ground-ball out, and a balk ignited the rally. Ryne Frankoff came on and put out the fire for his first save of the year. Hyatt coughed up three runs, all earned with two walks in just 1/3 of an inning. Oklahoma only made two hits.
ASU will play Virginia at 3 p.m. Sunday. Coverage begins at 2:40 p.m. on AM 1450, WATA. Virginia defeated Army 9-1 on Saturday afternoon.
