Lenoir-Rhyne's Kate Griewisch has been named to the 2012 Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District III Women's Track and Field & Cross Country Team for NCAA Division II. CoSIDA is the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Griewisch recently graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne with a bachelor's degree in biology and a 3.85 grade point average.

Griewisch also earned second-team Academic All-America honors last year. Griewisch finished her collegiate career at L-R as a seven-time NCAA Division II All-American in three sports.
Griewisch earned All-America accolades three times in both women's cross country (2009-11) and outdoor track and field (2011-12) and once in indoor track and field (2012).
Last week at the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Pueblo, Colo., Griewisch was named in All-American in both the women's 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs. Griewisch finished fourth in the 5K and third in the 10K, respectively.
In women's cross country, Griewisch has won the past three NCAA Division II Southeast Regional meets and finished fourth out of 186 runners at the national championship race in November in Spokane, Wash. Griewisch also won the 2009 and 2011 South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship race.
In addition, Griewisch has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Of The Year three times (2009-11) and was the 2010-11 female recipient of the SAC Presidents Award. The award is the highest honor the league gives out on an annual basis.
Members of the Capital One Academic All-District 3 Team are selected by CoSIDA, which includes all colleges and universities in the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and Peach Belt Conference.
This is the first year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and doubles the number of scholar-athletes honored. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 D-II and D-III Academic All-America® teams program.
