The Hickory Crawdads won their fourth straight game with a 3-2 victory against the West Virginia Power before 2,656 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Thursday night. The Crawdads (27-25) struck right away in the bottom of the first inning against RHP Ryan Hafner (L, 0-4).  With one away, SS Luis Sardinas

singled his way on, before moving to second when 3B Hanser Alberto followed with a walk.  The two completed a double steal, moving to second and third, and then Sardinas charged home on a throwing error committed by 3B Kirk Singer on a RF Zach Cone grounder, putting Hickory into the 1-0 lead.
West Virginia (18-36) answered with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning against RHP Nick Martinez (W, 2-1).  Singer started the stanza with a single and moved to second on a one-out base hit by C Francisco Diaz.  CF Junior Sosa tied the game with an RBI single, scoring Singer and moving Diaz to third.  The Power then moved in front on a sacrifice fly by SS Francisco Aponte, bringing in Diaz for the 2-1 advantage.
Hickory tied the game in the very next inning, before moving in front for good in the fourth.  With two down in the third, RF Zach Cone belted a solo home run to square the score, 2-2.  The Crawdads then swung in front in the fourth, which started with a C Kevin Torres base hit.  CF Jordan Akins followed with a free pass, moving Torres to second base.  After a fly out to right field advanced Torres to third, 1B Trever Adams bounced an RBI single through the left-side of the infield, driving in the go-ahead run for the 3-2 lead.
Martinez kept the Crawdads lead intact through the remainder of his five-inning start, before RHP Phil Klein navigated through 2.2 scoreless frames.  LHP Greg Williams (S, 4) entered the game with two on and two down in the top of the eighth and got out of the jam in scoreless fashion, before dealing a 1-2-3 ninth to close the 3-2 win for Hickory.
