The Hickory Crawdads completed the series sweep with the 3-2 win against the Delmarva Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Wednesday night. The Crawdads (26-25), who climbed back over the .500 mark, snapped a 1-1 tie

with a two-run rally in the top of the eighth. With one out, Rougned Odor, the South Atlantic League Player of the Week, continued his hot pace by belting a double to left-center field to spark the rally.
After a wild pitch moved Odor to third, Luis Sardinas, who had two hits and two runs-batted-in, had an RBI infield single just inside the first-base line that scored Odor from third for a 2-1 lead.  In his attempt to field Sardinas's base hit, losing pitcher Devin Jones made a bad throw past first base that allowed Sardinas to reach third. Chris Grayson then bounced a grounder to third that Sardinas broke home on right away.  Jason Esposito of the Shorebirds, after fielding the ball, threw the ball away for an error allowing Sardinas to score for the 3-1 lead.
Delmarva got one of those runs back in the bottom of the eighth. But winning pitcher Kevin Matthews (1-0) worked his way out of trouble. Leading 3-2, Arlett Mavare took over for the bottom of the ninth and picked up his first save. After he surrendered a leadoff single, Mavare struck out the side to preserve the win.
Odor had three hits and scored two runs; the Shorebirds (21-31) had seven hits, the Crawdads had six. Starting pitcher Jerad Eickhoff pitched well, but had a no-decision for his efforts. He went six innings and gave up an earned run on three hits with five strikeouts.
