Tourists Complete Series Sweep PDF Print

The Asheville Tourists won the series finale against the Hickory Crawdads, 6-1, completing the four-game sweep at Historic McCormick Field on Sunday afternoon. The Tourists (27-15) didn't waste any time taking the lead with a

run in the bottom of the second inning. Harold Riggins gave Asheville the lead with a solo home run. The Crawdads (19-21), who have lost eight in a row, tied things up in the top of the third. came right back in the top of the third inning against RHP Daniel Winkler (W, 5-2).  With one away, Chris Grayson reached with a lead-off walk; Luis Sardinas singled Grayson to third base, and he scored on a wild pitch.
Butr Asheville jumped on top for good in the top of the fourth inning. Will Swanner led off with a double and scored on an RBI single by Jared Simon one out later. Taylor Featherston was hit by a pitch, putting runners at first and second before Rosell Herrera belted a two-run double to left-center field making it 4-1.
An RBI double by Delta Cleary, Jr. in the sixth inning made it 5-1; and a RBI ground out by Tyler Massey in the seventh made it 6-1. Daniel Winkler (5-2) got the win. He gave up an earned run on three hits with eight strikeouts in six innings of work; Santo Perez (2-3) suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs in five innings.
