Ameet Pall of Wofford College, the fifth pick overall in the Canadian Football League Draft, has signed with the Calgary Stampeders. Head coach and general manager John Hufnagel made the announcement Friday afternoon. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Pall was the pre-season Defensive Player of the Year in the Southern Conference last

season. During his four-year stay (2008-11) with the Terriers, Pall had 148 tackles, 45 tackles-for-loss, and 19.5 quarterback sacks. He was the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2010, and he was nationally ranked (eighth in the country) in TFL and quarterback sacks per game. He led the Southern Conference with 12.5 sacks and TFL with 22.5 that year.
He played in 11 games last year and made 32 stops, seven tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery. Pall was on the pre-season watch list for the 2011 Buck Buchanan Award that goes to the best defensive player in the country in the Football Championship Subdivision. He was also named a preseason All-American by The Sports Network and Phil Steele.
Pall is a native of Montreal, Quebec. He will make his professional debut on June 14, when the Stampeders entertain the Edmonton Eskimos in a pre-season game.
