James Goodridge has been appointed the head women's volleyball coach at Lees-McRae College, announced Director of Athletics Craig McPhail Friday. Goodridge will continue to serve as the head coach of the men's program, a post which he has held for the past two years.
"I'm excited about this opportunity with the women's program, and eager to get the team in the gym," said Goodridge. "Having been involved with the program for the last two years, I think that my familiarity with the program and

the conference will help continue the success that we've enjoyed. Then, hopefully I can bring a new element to elevate that success."
Goodridge has been a tremendous part of the Bobcats' success over the last two years, helping guide the women's program to an unblemished 36-0 record in Conference Carolinas play en route to back-to-back conference regular season and tournament championships. In his tenure with the Bobcats, Lees-McRae has posted a 52-17 overall record while earning back-to-back berths in the NCAA Tournament.
"James has been an integral part of the success we have recently had with our women's volleyball program, and his desire to take on this task was exhibited by his dedication over the past two years," said McPhail. "He will provide continuity, strong leadership and intense passion to further develop our women's volleyball student-athletes."
The Florida State graduate has led the men's program to new heights over the last two seasons, guiding the team to a 27-20 record in that span while posting a trio of victories over NCAA Division I opponents. Goodridge led the Bobcats to a 16-10 record in 2011, posting a pivotal win over No. 16 Ball State University in his first season at the helm, while nearly upsetting No. 11 Penn State University in a five-set thriller.
Goodridge joined the Bobcats from conference foe Mount Olive College, where he served as the interim coach for women's volleyball, leading the Trojans to the conference tournament championship match as the fifth seed in 2008. Goodridge was named the program's associate head coach during the following men's season.
His coaching career began directly after high school, coaching while attending college. Goodridge served as the head coach of the men's club team at Florida State University. After graduating from Florida State University, Goodridge became an assistant for the men's and women's volleyball teams at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. Goodridge was an essential piece to the women's success, as they finished 27-8 en route to a spot in the conference tournament finals.
Goodridge graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management from Florida State in 2006, and later received his Master of Arts in sport and fitness from the University of Central Florida.
