That's Five In A Row PDF Print

Madison Bumgarner is currently one of the, if not the, winningest pitcher in Major League Baseball. The left hander from Hickory (and South Caldwell High School) won his fifth game in a row Saturday at the San Francisco Giants defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 at AT&T Park. Bumgarner, who gave up four runs in a season-opening loss against the

Arizona Diamondbacks, has been extremely stingy during this personal five-game winning streak. He's coughed up six earned runs over 35 innings in his last five
starts for a 1.20 earned-run-average. On Saturday, Bumgarnmer (5-1) went seven innings and he handcuffed the Brewers, giving up an earned run on six hits with five strikeouts. He has 11 whiffs in his last two starts; he had eight total in three previous starts.
Saturday's win also snapped a four-game losing streak for the Giants (13-14), who find themselves in third place in the National League West, five games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers. Bumgarner is scheduled to pitch again next Friday, May 11, when the Giants travel to Arizona.
