Jerad Eickhoff Shawn Blackwell combined on a six-hit shutout as the Hickory Crawdads defeated Kannapolis 6-0, at CMC-Northeast Stadium in Kannapolis on Saturday night.  Eickhoff (4-2) baffled the Intimidators (12-16) through the first seven innings, striking out seven batters and scattering only five hits. Blackwell, making his Crawdads debut, closed the game

with two scoreless innings, striking out three batters. The Crawdads (17-11) gave Eickhoff and Blackwell all the runs they needed in the top of the sixth inning as they scored four times against losing pitcher Blair Walters of the Intimidators. Walters (0-2) coughed up four runs on seven hits after he handcuffed the Crawdads through the first five innings. Luis Sardinas started the inning as he reached on a throwing error. Hanser Alberto promptly drove Sardinas with an RBI double just inside the left-field line with the first run of the game.  Rougned Odor reached on a single one out later before Zach Cone launched a three-run shot over the left-field fence for a 4-0 lead.
The Crawdads scored another run in the seventh to settle the issue. Alberto led off the inning with his second double of the game just inside the left-field line. He moved to third on a grounder by Jordan Akins that was misplayed by Kannapolis third baseman Rangel Ravelo, putting runners at first and third with nobody out. Odor then skied sacrifice fly into deep right field plating Alberto that gave Hickory a 5-0 advantage.
The Crawdads tacked on another run in the top of the ninth. Sardinas got things started with a double and scored on a pair of wild pitches.
