'Dads Rally Falls Shorts Against Greensboro PDF Print

The Hickory Crawdads plated four runs through the final five innings, but fell to the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 8-4, before 6,418 fans at NewBridge Bank Park on Wednesday afternoon. Greensboro (17-8) jumped out to an 8-0 lead by

the fourth inning against the 'Dads (16-9).  Josh Adams and Matt Smith both went deep with a man on to give the Grasshoppers a 5-0 lead by the third inning.
Austin Barnes hit a two-run home run in the fourth for a 7-0 lead, and the Grasshoppers added an unearned run for a commanding 8-0 lead going into the fifth inning. The Crawdads finally got on the board in the top of the fifth on an RBI double by Chris Grayson. a two-run homer by Jeremy Williams in the seventh made it 8-3; and an RBI single by Zach Cone in the eighth made it 8-4. But with the bases loaded and only one out in eighth, Williams hit into a double play ending the threat.
Hickory strung together a pair of singles in the top of the ninth, but Brad Mincey stranded the runners, closing things out for Greensboro.
