Watauga High Athletics Director Tom Wright has announced that the Watauga High men's tennis team will play South Caldwell in a make-up match today at the Sports Complex. The match was scheduled for Monday, but it was
snowed out. The Pioneers, who are unbeaten in league play and claimed their third Northwestern 3A/4A Conference title in a row, wrap up regular-season play today. The match begins at 4:30 p.m.
The Pioneers (11-0 NW3A/4A; 15-1 overall) will compete in the NW3A/4A Conference Tournament Thursday at South Caldwell. The Class 3A schools will play the NW3A/4A Tournament at Hickory High on Thursday.
Also, we have a correction to pass along. It was stated on goblueridge.net on Sunday that WHS would host the High Country Invitational on Wednesday. Well, that was wrong and I apologize for the error. WHS travels to St. Stephens for a 9th-and-10th Grade meet on Wednesday. WHS will host the High Country Invitational on Saturday.
And the WHS women's lacrosse team had its scheduled match with West Forsyth postponed on Monday because of inclement weather. The match will be made up on Tuesday, May 1. WHS (3-8), mired in a four-match losing streak, travels to Kernersvile-Glenn for a match tonight. The men's team will host Patton at the lacrosse field. If WHS (5-4 overall; 4-1 in District 9) wins, the Pioneers will nail down the district title and wrap up an automatic berth to the state playoffs.
