The Hickory Crawdads won their sixth straight game in a rain-shortened five inning contest, 1-0, against the Savannah Sand Gnats at Historic Grayson Stadium on Sunday afternoon.  The game was called due to wet grounds after

a 46-minute rain delay. With the win, Crawdads Manager Bill Richardson passes Tony Beasley as the all-time winningest manager in Crawdads history with 166 victories. The Crawdads (12-5) took the lead in the top of the third against losing pitcher Michael Fulmer (0-2).  And they scored the game's only run on a pair of errors by the Sand Gnats. With one out, Chris Grayson belted a double to right field.  Hanser Alberto then ripped a line drive to the mound that was caught by Fulmer. But a pair of bad throws allowed Grayson to score from second base on the play.
The rain began falling in the sixth inning. The umpires stopped the game 46-minutes later. Victor Payano (2-0) got the win. He tossed five scoreless inning and gave up one hit. He walked two ansd struck out three.
