The Hickory Crawdads won their fifth straight game, 6-1, against the Savannah Sand Gnats, before 3,282 fans at Historic Grayson Stadium on Saturday evening.  With the win, Hickory Manager Bill Richardson ties Tony Beasley as the winningest manager in Crawdads history. Winning pitcher Luke Jackson (2-0) shut down the Savannah offense,

tossing a no-hitter through his first 5.2 innings and finishing with six shutout frames. The Crawdads (11-5) raced in front in the top of the fourth inning against losing pitcher Tyler Pill (1-1). Jeremy Williams led off with a single, and then darted home one out later on an RBI double by Jorge Alfaro. Alfaro then trotted home as Drew Robinson crushed a two-run homer over the right field wall for the 3-0 lead.
Hickory added two run more in the top of the sixth. Williams led off with a base hit, and Alfaro knocked him, this time with an RBI triple. After Alfaro injured himself on the play, Jordan Akins took over as a pinch runner and promptly trotted home on an RBI double by Robinson, stretching the lead to 5-0.
The Sand Gnats (10-7) managed to get on the board in the bottom of the eighth against Chris Hanna. Tillman Pugh led off with a solo shot, but Hanna navigated through the rest of the inning with no further damage being done. Hickory added an insurance run in the top of the ninth.  With the bases loaded and one out, Zach Cone's sacrifice fly drove in the final run to cap the Crawdads win at 6-1.  Randol Rojas closed the game with a scoreless ninth.
