The Hickory Crawdads scored three runs in the top of the 13th inning for the 5-2 win against the Savannah Sand Gnats before 1,992 fans at Historic Grayson Stadium on Friday night. Sand Gnats (10-6) tied it up in the bottom of the first, the Crawdads reclaimed the lead in the top of the second. Kellin Deglan led off with a double and moved to third on a ground out to the mound. Drew Robinson drove him in with a fielder's choice to short; Deglan beat T.J. Rivera's throw to the plate for a 2-1 lead.
After 2 1/3 scoreless relief innings from Arlett Mavare, Savannah tied it up again in the bottom of the seventh against Andrew Faulkner. Dustin Lawley singled and stole second base. He moved to third on a fly ball to right field before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Travis Taijeron to square the score, 2-2. Hickory finally broke through in the top of the 13th inning against losing pitcher Jared West (1-1).  With two on and two out, Robinson placed a two-run double just inside the left-field line, putting the 'Dads ahead, 4-2. Chris Grayson then lined an RBI single to center field, plating Robinson for the 5-2 advantage.
Phil Klein (1-0), who had taken over on the mound to start the 12th after three scoreless frames from Nick Martinez, nailed things down with a scoreless inning bottom of the 13th.
