Lees-McRae College seniors Alexander Hayes (Mexico City, Mexico) and Marcelo Tatai (Sao Paulo, Brazil) have been named to the Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Academic all-Conference Team for the

first time in their careers, announced league officials Wednesday. Queens University of Charlotte paced the conference with eight selections, as King College placed five student-athletes on the team.
Hayes has put together an impressive senior season with the Bobcats, compiling a 10-6 singles record while winning nine of 10 matches in conference play. The Mexico City, Mexico native has paced the Bobcats to three straight victories entering the conference tournament, including a 7-2 win over Pfeiffer University in which he registered a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 2 singles.
Tatai is in the midst of a career season this spring, posting seven wins overall in singles play, including five victories over conference opponents. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native has won two of his last three singles matches entering the conference tournament, including a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Belmont Abbey College's Tim Tanko on Saturday.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Friday when the sixth-seeded Bobcats take on third-seeded Queens in the quarterfinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament at 12 p.m. at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
