The Watauga Storm 7th grade girls team turned in a second-place finish this past weekend at the Spring Jamfest in Elizabethton, TN.  During pool play the Storm defeated the LKSA Knights, 31-19 before they lost

to the Appalachain Avalanche, 42-27.  The first round of bracket play found the Storm taking on the Avalanche for a second time in as many days.  But this time around, the Storm prevailed by knocking off the Avalanche, 29-27.
A layup by Athena Millsaps late in the game, and a free throw by Holly Greene sealed the victory and sent the Storm to the championship game.
Unfortunately, the Storm lost to the Lady Cyclones from Elizabethton in the finals. For the weekend, the Storm was lead in scoring by Athena Millsaps with 35 points, Katherine Stapleton with 20 points and Katie Harrelson with 16 points. And according to coach Andy Eggers, "all of the girls played very well this weekend."
