With the score tied at one, Tusculum scored seven times in its half of the second highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Matt Henriksen (Hingham, Mass.) to put the contest away. Aaron Guinn (Norris, Tenn.) added four hits and three runs scored while Adam Sigmon (Taylorsville, N.C.) improved to 6-1 with the victory for the Pioneers. Junior outfielder Rai Robinson (Kings Mountain, N.C.) and freshman outfielder Ivan Vieitez (Miami, Fla.) hit solo home runs for the Bears but junior Jared Carroll (Bladenboro, N.C.) fell to 4-5 with the loss.
In game two, Tusculum's Taylor Rakes (Norcross, Ga.) (8-1) allowed just one run after taking a shutout into the seventh inning while Alexi Colon (Vineland, N.J.) hit a home run to lead the Pioneers to the sweep. Colon and Stallings both drove in two runs as the Pioneers finished with 12 hits in the contest. Sophomore second baseman Mike Gasque (Mebane, N.C.) drove in the Bears' lone run of the contest with an RBI single in the seventh inning while L-R sophomore Ryan Jones (Asheville, N.C.) fell to 3-4 with the loss despite going the distance.
