Saints Defeat Bobcats, 8-1 PDF Print

The Limestone College men's tennis team swept doubles play and won five of six singles matches play en route to an 8-1 victory over Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas play on

Thursday afternoon. Limestone's (15-5, 10-0 CC) tandem of Mike Stephenson and Rafael Ferla kicked off the afternoon with an 8-3 win against Lees-McRae's (2-11, 2-6 CC) duo of Alexander Hayes (Mexico City, Mexico) and Skylar Warren (Asheville, N.C.), before Carlos Yanes and Lucas Guinski defeated Pedro De Sousa Nunes (Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil) and Marcelo Tatai (Sao Paulo, Brazil), 8-2. Abraham Lascari Diaz and Daniel Lopez notched an 8-6 victory against Graham Battle (Boone, N.C.) and Hang Lak Choi (Newton, N.C.), 8-6 in the third doubles flight.
Yanes opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Nunes to give the Saints a 4-0 advantage, as Stephenson defeated Hayes, 6-2, 6-3 to clinch at No. 2 to clinch the victory for Limestone. Ferla posted a 6-2, 6-2 win against Warren, as Guinski defeated Tatai, 6-0, 6-1. After Lopez won his sixth-flight match against Choi, 6-0, 6-1, Battle rallied for a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 victory over Diaz.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Friday when the Bobcats host Pfeiffer University in conference play at 2 p.m.

 


Saints Sweep Bobcats, 9-0

 


The Limestone College women's tennis team swept both singles and doubles play en route to a 9-0 victory over Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas play on Thursday afternoon.
Limestone's (12-6, 8-3 CC) duo of Paige Palinkas and Lauren Bolender opened the afternoon with a hard-fought 9-7 victory over Lees-McRae's (1-11, 1-8 CC) tandem of Lyndsay Peagram (Greensboro, N.C.) and Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), as Jimena Munoz Quiroga and Ariel Svantesson defeated Kelsey Hiatt (Mt. Airy, N.C.) and Raven Harris (St. Pauls, N.C.), 8-2. Limestone was awarded the third doubles flight by default.
Palinkas kicked off singles play with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Peagram, as Quiroga defeated Wohlers, 6-0, 6-1 in the second flight. Segolene Ollivier posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hiatt at No. 3 singles, as Bolender defeated Harris, 6-0, 6-0. Limestone was awarded the fifth and sixth singles flights by default.
