Hickory 12-11 in sudden death overtime. Olivia Li scored six times for the WHS women; Nick Williams had four goals to pace the men's team; Canyon Mueller had three tallies.  Dominick Hamilton scored twice. WHS wiped out a 6-1, first-quarter deficit to take a 10-7 lead in the final stanza. But Hickory scored scored four consecutive goals, setting the stage for sudden-death overtime.
"I really thought when we went up 10-7, we had the game," said WHS coach Chris Wallace. "But they just caught fire and jumped back in front. I'm glad we came back like we did, though. We showed a lot of fight."
Hickory scored the game-winning goal in the first minute of overtime. Both the WHS men and women play Winston-Salem-Reynolds on April 17; the men will be on the road; the women will be at home.
