Rain washed out Tuesday’s baseball game between Appalachian State University and East Tennessee State at ASU’s Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. Appalachian trailed, 2-0, in the middle of the third inning

when lighting and rain moved into the area. Since the game was not yet official, the contest will restart from the beginning if it is rescheduled. Statistics from Tuesday’s two-and-a-half innings of action will be erased.
The Mountaineers (22-5, 7-2 SoCon) continue what is now a seven-game homestand this weekend with a pivotal Southern Conference series versus College of Charleston (21-8, 11-4 SoCon). The three-game set opens on Friday at 6 p.m. at Smith Stadium
