Rumors of Violence Cause Increased WHS Security PDF Print

Today will be a day of caution, of watching, that as rumors of threats of violence at Watauga High School have caused the  Boone Police Department to have an increased police presence in and around Watauga High School today. The Boone Police press release on the matter was unusual

in that it released such information ahead of taking action, but was not specific about the threats. The release only stated that “this action is in response to rumored threats of violence at Watauga High School.” It went on to say that the Boone Police Department, in conjunction with Watauga High School Administrators, have decided to take a proactive stance to ensure the safety of our children.  Faculty, staff and students are urged to attend school as usual but remain vigilant for anything out of the ordinary.  If suspicious activity is observed, please contact the Boone Police Department at 828-268-6900 or 911. It went on to say that anyone with information concerning this incident is urged to contact the Boone Police Department at 828.268.6900.
