North Surry football coach Brian Hampton is expected to be named the new footbal coach at Ashe County High, replacing Bill Strong, who retired on January 1. Hampton has spent the last three years with the Greyhounds. He led North Surry to 15 wins the last two seasons, which

Hampton, who graduated from Beaver Creek High, led North Surry to a winning record in 2010, the first at the school in four years (2006). The Ashe County school board will meet tonight to approve the hiring, and Hampton will be officially introduced at a press conference Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m..
