Levine Finishes Second At Winthrop Invite PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams competed this weekend at the 2012 Winthrop Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of Winthrop University. On the men's side, L-R sophomore Mike Ryan (Sewickley, Pa.) finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:03 while

sophomore Rodney Cline (Salisbury, N.C.) placed 10th in the discus throw with a toss of 117'08".
In the men's javelin throw, senior Jakob Maidens (Lebanon, Va.) was fifth with a 136'10" while Lenoir-Rhyne placed second overall in the men's 400-meter relay with a time of 43.09 seconds.
The relay squad consisted of freshman Derrick Hardin (Dallas, Ga.), senior James Pone (Wilson, N.C.), freshman Daryel Morris (Rome, Ga.) and junior Jamont Jones (Washington, N.C.). Pone and Morris each placed sixth overall in the 100-meter (11.09 seconds) and 200-meter (22.42 seconds) dash finals, respectively.
For the Lenoir-Rhyne women's team, sophomore Laura Rhyne (Taylorsville, N.C.) set a personal record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:41. Rhyne finished 10th overall in the race. L-R junior Samantha Levine (Wayne, N.J.) was the runner-up in the women's javelin throw (112'09) while freshman Hanna Ramirez (Charlotte, N.C.) was 12th in the women's 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:16.
Meanwhile, Lenoir-Rhyne redshirt freshman AnQuinette Crawford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) finished fourth in the women's 200-meter dash finals (27.66 seconds) while junior Elizabeth Chaffee (Winston-Salem, N.C.) was 17th in the women's 800-meter run (2:33).
L-R senior All-American Kate Griewisch will compete in the Stanford Relays next weekend in Stanford, Calif. The Lenoir-Rhyne track and field squads will be in competition again on Friday, April 13, at the Appalachian Open in Boone, N.C.
