The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team (3-10, 1-6) picked up its first Deep South Conference victory of the season with a 17-9 win over Florida Tech (2-10, 0-7) Friday evening at Moretz Stadium. L-R freshman Ned Kaish (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with a match-high four goals while freshman Miles Britton (Wesley Chapel, Fla.)
added three goals and three assists for the Bears, who snapped a four-match losing streak. Kaish leads the team with 27 goals on the season while Britton is first on the squad in assists (24) and points scored (37).
Florida Tech's Andrew Conley (Orlando, Fla.) tallied a team-high three goals while Christian Isola (Holmdel, N.J.) finished with two goals and three assists but the Panthers continue to search for their first victory of the year.
With the score tied at three late in the first period, Lenoir-Rhyne took control by scoring eight of the match's next nine goals.
Freshman John Remsen (Oceanside, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal and finished with two goals and two assists on the night.
Lenoir-Rhyne held a slim margin in both shots taken (37-36) and ground balls (43-41) while freshman Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) picked up the victory in goal. Squires stopped 11 shots as well.
Florida Tech goalkeeper Mason Cook (Hollywood, Md.) suffered the loss despite totaling seven saves on the evening. The Panthers also saw their two-match winning streak snapped in the process.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face Rollins (Fla.) in its final conference match of the season Sunday afternoon beginning at Noon. Florida Tech visits Belmont Abbey for a match on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., in Belmont, N.C.
