The Watauga Storm extended its record to 29-3 by winning the YBOA Kickoff Classic in Morganton last weekend. In pool play on Saturday the Storm posted a perfect 3-0 record by winning all of its games to earn a number one seed in Pool A. In the semifinal round Sunday, the Storm

defeated the Western North Carolina Eagles from Asheville, NC., 48-14. The Storm had it working on both ends, thanks to a strong defensive game, and shooting an impressive 70% from the floor.
In the finals, Watauga defeated the East Burke Cavs, the No.2 seed from Pool B, 63-57. An uptempo game that featured 12 lead changes, it all came down to free throws at the end. The Storm made seven of eight free throws attempts down the stretch to win the game.
The Storm now has five tournament titles, with two second-place and a third-place finish on its resume this season. Watauga travels to Elizabethton, TN, this weekend for the No Fools, No Fouls Tournament at the East Tennessee Sports Complex.
