Bears Track And Field Competes At High Point PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Track and Field squads competed Saturday at the VertKlasse Meeting at Dirk Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point University. L-R junior Samantha Levine (Wayne, N.Y.) won the women's javelin throw with a 118'11", the second straight meet she has

won the event. Lenoir-Rhyne senior All-American Kate Griewisch (Banner Elk, N.C.) finished third in the women's 1,500-meter run with a school-record time of 4:38.20.
Freshman Kiaya Robinson (Chapel Hill, N.C.) also broke a school record for the Bears in the women's discus throw with a 101'03", good for a sixth-place finish in the participation division.
On the men's side, Lenoir-Rhyne senior James Pone (Wilson, N.C.) finished eighth in the 100-meter finals (11.10 seconds) and was followed by freshman Derrick Hardin (Dallas, Ga.) in ninth place at 11.14 seconds.
L-R's men's 1,600-meter relay placed seventh overall after clocking a 3:25.54. The squad included junior Caleb Kingery (Roanoke, Va.), senior Jakob Maidens (Lebanon, Va.), freshman Daryel Morris (Rome, Ga.) and junior Jamont Jones (Washington, N.C.).
In the men's participation division, Morris ran the 400-meter dash in 50.76 seconds to finish sixth overall while Pone was third in the 200-meter dash (22.89 seconds).
The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams next compete in the Winthrop Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Rock Hill, S.C.
