UPDATED: Providence Defeats Pioneers PDF Print

The Watauga High baseball team dropped a 10-4 decision to Providence on Saturday afternoon in Charlotte. Senior Max Linnville paced the Pioneers offensively. He had three hits on Saturday, scored twice and he homered. Linnville has been one of WHS's hottest hitters of late. He was batting .400 going into Saturday's matchup against Providence. The Pioneers (5-5 overall) travel to St. Stephens for a Northwestern 3A/4A Conference game Tuesday night.
The right hander, Ethan Greene, will be on the mound. The Indians, who were rained out at home against Hickory, play the Red Tornadoes in a make-up game Monday night. The Pioneers currently find themwselves one-half game behind the Indians (7-2; 3-1) for second place in the NW3A/4A standings. Our coverage begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday night on Oldies 100.7 FM.
The JV team (5-5) defeated Providence 2-1 on Saturday. Ryan Church picked up the win. He scattered five hits and struck out two in sa complete-game, six-inning victory. Hunter Isaacs homered in the fifth; Carson Isaacs led off the sixth with a double, and scored on Stedman Sauls' run-scoring single..
WHS coach Pete Hardee has announced a time change for next Saturday's game (March 31) against Ardrey Kell at Watauga High Field. The contest, varsity only, has now been moved up to a 12:30 p.m. start. Our coverage begins at 12 noon on Oldies 100.7 FM.
