The Tampa Men's Lacrosse Team (9-3, 6-0) withstood a late rally to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne (2-9, 0-6), 11-10, and remain undefeated in Deep South Lacrosse play Friday night at Pepin Stadium. Greg Griffo (Babylon, N.Y.), A.J. DeSimone (Utica, N.Y.) and Ryan Becker (Tampa, Fla.) all scored twice for the Spartans, who
held a 9-4 lead in the third period and held on for the win.
L-R redshirt freshman Connor Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) led all scorers with four goals and sophomore Tyler Kotch (Butler, Pa.) scored twice despite the loss.
Freshman Miles Britton (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) dished out three assists to increase his team-leading total to 19 on the year for the Bears, who scored four of match's last five goals in a late-game surge that fell just short.
Tampa held a slight edge in shots taken (41-40) and ground balls (30-29) while Joseph Fiorucci (Shirley, N.Y.) picked up the victory in goal as he stopped 10 shots.
Lenoir-Rhyne freshman goalkeeper Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) suffered the setback despite making 15 saves on the night and the Bears suffered their third one-goal loss on the season.
