WHS Soccer Slips By Spartans PDF Print

The Watauga High women's soccer team survived a sloppy playing field and knocked South Caldwell 3-2 Tuesday night in a Northwestern 3A/4A Conference game in Sawmills. Kendyl Baird, Lillie Brady and

Ivy Wilcox all scored for WHS. Traling 2-1, Brady scored the game-tying goal on an assist by Wlcox in the 55th minute of the second half; Wilcox scored the game winner 20 minutes later on a feed from Skylar Hicks. Hannah Younger had an assists on Baird goal in the first half. The Pioneers (5-2 overall; 2-0 NW3A/4A) have won four in a row. They return home to play Hibriten Friday night.
The JV match was rained out.

 


WHS TENNIS REMAINS UNDEFEATED

 


The Watauga High men's tennis team won it's sixth consecutive match by knocking off St. Stephens 5-0 in a rain-shortened Northwestern 3A/4A Conference match in Hickory Tuesday night. Michael Smith, Harrison Battle, Landon Taylor, Aaron Evans and Jackson Yates were winners in singles play. Chris Ludwig was winning his match, but the rains came before he could complete his match. The Pioneers (6-0 overall; 4-0 NW3A/4A) return home to play Fred T. Foard Thursday.

WHS MEN'S AND WOMEN'S LACROSSE EARN SPLIT

 


The Watauga High men's lacrosse team defeated the Christ School JV team 7-1 Tuesday night at the Sports Complex. Nick Williams pace WHS (4-2) with four goals; the men travel to Hickory Friday night. A win against Hickory, and the WHS men have a shot at winning their district championship.
Unfortunately, the WHS women dropped a 12-11 decision against Pfafftown-Reagan Tuesday night at the Sports Complex. Danielle Welsh led the Pioneers (1-4) with four goals; Olivia Li had three goals; Hannah Greer had seven saves. The WHS women entertain Kernersville-Glenn Friday night at 6 p.m. at the Sports Complex.

 


WHS SOFTBALL RAINED OUT

 


The Watauga High softball team had its game with South Caldwell rained out Tuesday night. They will make the game up tonight in Sawmills. The Pioneersw (3-4 overall; 1-2 Northwestern 3A/4A Conference) have won three of their last four games.
