Thornton Leads Bobcats at Wake Forest Open PDF Print

Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) set a new school record in the 400-meter hurdles to lead the Lees-McRae College women’s track and field team to a strong performance on Saturday on the second day of the Wake Forest Open. Thornton crossed the line in 1:03.79 in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing 10th while

breaking her own school record. Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.61 meters, while Persephanie Mcrae (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished 14th with a jump of 1.48 meters. Kayla Frazier (Chesterfield, S.C.) also finished seventh in the shot put with a toss of 9.24 meters.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday, March 24 when the Bobcats travel to High Point, N.C. to take part in High Point University’s Performance Track Meet.

 

 

Bobcats finish strong at Wake Forest Open

 


The Lees-McRae College men’s track and field team posted a trio of top-10 performances on Saturday en route to a strong showing on the second day of the Wake Forest Open. Sophomore Devan Mackey (Hickory, N.C.) placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 11.42 meters, as Corbin Picket t (Arden, N.C.) finished 12th with a toss of 10.28 meters. Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) finished 10th in the pole vault with a mark of 4.30 meters.
The quartet of Nazaire Saintine (Douglassville, Ga.), Joshua Oliver (North Wilkesboro, N.C.), Brandon Williams (Raleigh, N.C.), and Christopher Dye (Gastonia, N.C.) teamed for a ninth-place performance in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 42.87 seconds. Nazaire Saintine (Douglassville, Ga.) established a new school record in the high jump to pace the Lees-McRae College men’s track and field team to a strong performance at the Wake Forest Open on Friday.
Saintine finished eighth with a mark of 2.02 meters, as Bradley King (Hildebran, N.C.) and Brandon Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) placed 19th and 20th, respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles. Richard Lane (Concord, N.C.) also placed 14th in the “B” high jump with a mark of 1.82 meters.

Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday, March 24 when the Bobcats travel to High Point, N.C. to take part in High Point University’s Performance Track Meet.
