LRU Men's Tennis Picks Up First Win PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Tennis Team (1-7) picked up its first victory of the year with a 5-4 win over Concord University (6-1) Friday afternoon at Hickory High School. L-R rallied for the victory as senior Graydon Dunn (Charlotte, N.C.), junior David Richardson (Wake Forest, N.C.) and freshman

Jarod Styres (Chapel Hill, N.C.) all won at singles and doubles.
At sixth singles, Styres rallied to defeat Concord's Cody Vinson by a score of 5-7, 6-2 and 6-1 and teamed with Dunn to defeat Danny Fonrondona and Daniel Contente at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns to action on Tuesday when it faces Catawba on the road in a South Atlantic Conference match in Salisbury, N.C., beginning at 2:30 p.m.  Concord hosts Fairmont State on Saturday, March 24, at 2:00 p.m.

Women's Tennis Shuts Out Concord, 9-0

 


The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Tennis Team (2-7) made it two wins in a row with a 9-0 shutout victory over Concord University (3-14) Friday afternoon at Hickory High School. Juniors Kelsey Love (Port Orange, Fla.) and Ivey Tant (Lansing, N.C.), senior Mariel Mena (Gainesville, Fla.) and freshman Maggie Brown (Cranford, N.J.) all earned victories in singles and doubles action for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Salisbury, N.C., to face Catawba in a South Atlantic Conference match on Tuesday beginning at 2:30 p.m. Concord meanwhile, hosts, Fairmont State in a West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday, March 24, at 2:00 p.m.
