UPDATED: Trotman Advances To National Semis PDF Print

Appalachian State University senior Austin Trotman advanced to the national semifinals at the NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, MO. Trotman,

a four-time national qualifier, defeated Joe LaBlanc of Wyoming, the No.1 seed at 184 pounds.
Trotman prevailed 12-9, and handed LaBlanc (21-2) only his second loss of the year. Trotman now faces Steve Bosak of  Cornell, the No.4 seed, in the national semfinals tonight.
Bosak advanced by knocking off Kevin Steinhaus of Minnesota, 1-0 in the quarterfinal round.
Tony Gravely of the Mountaineers was eliminated at 125 pounds in the consolation round. Steve Bonanno of Hofstra defeated Gravely 15-2 by major decision Friday morning.
Kyle Blevins of ASU picked up a couple of wins on Friday in the consolation round in the 165-pound weight division. He defeated Scott Winston of Rutgers 4-1 in his opening match; he knocked off Dan Yates of Michigan, 3-2. Blevins takes on Dominic Kastl of Cal-Poly in his next match. The winner will face Robert Kokesh of Nebraska in a fifth-round consolation match.
Blevins defeated Kastl 6-2 Friday afternoon for this third straight win of the day. He will now face Kokesh of Nebraska this evening with a shot at making it to the quarterfinal round in the consolation bracket.
