Lenoir-Rhyne's Chelsea Kyle has gotten off to a strong start at the 2012 NCAA Division II Women’s Swimming and Diving National Championships at the Mansfield ISD Natatorium. Kyle,

a freshman from Knoxville, Tenn., broke a school-record in the women’s 200-yard individual medley preliminaries with a time of 2:09.25.  Kyle finished 37th overall in the event.
In the preliminaries of the women’s 100-yard butterfly, Kyle finished 21st overall with a time of 56:89 seconds.
Kyle will compete in the women's 200-yard butterfly finals on Friday, her third and last event she is participating in at the national championships.  Kyle is seeded sixth in the race as well.
Kyle won the 200-yard butterfly at the 2012 Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship in February in Charlotte, N.C., and holds the event's school-record time (2:03.52).
In addition, Kyle became the school's first-ever league champion with the victory. The four-day event runs through Saturday with preliminaries in the morning and finals at night.
