Royals sweep Bobcats, 9-0 PDF Print

The Queens University of Charlotte women’s tennis team swept both singles and doubles play en route to a 9-0 win over Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday afternoon. Queens’ (6-2, 3-0 CC) duo of Christina Rustscheff

and Erin Williams opened the day with an 8-1 win over Lees-McRae’s (0-5, 0-3 CC) pairing of Lyndsay Peagram (Greensboro, N.C.) and Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), as Morgan Roberts and Elena Mileva defeated Kelsey Hiatt (Mt. Airy, N.C.) and Raven Harris (St. Pauls, N.C.), 8-0. Queens was awarded the third doubles flight by default.
Rustscheff gave Queens a 4-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Peagram at No. 1 singles, as Roberts defeated Wohlers, 6-2, 6-0 to clinch the win for the Royals. Amanda Poole notched a 6-2, 6-0 win over Hiatt, while Williams defeated Harris, 6-1, 6-0. The Royals were awarded the fifth and sixth singles flights by default.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Thursday when the Bobcats host Lincoln Memorial University in non-conference play at noon.

The Queens University of Charlotte men’s tennis team swept doubles play and won five of six singles matches en route to an 8-1 win over Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday afternoon.Queens’ (5-4, 3-0 CC) duo of Christaan Lee-Daigle and Raahil Dhruva opened the day with an 8-4 win over Lees-McRae’s (1-6, 1-2 CC) pairing of Skylar Warren (Asheville, N.C.) and Pedro De Sousa Nunes (Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil), as Joshua Bloch and Ignacio Casali defeated Alexander Hayes (Mexico City, Mexico) and Marcelo Tatai (Sao Paulo, Brazil), 8-4. Andre Bafume and Gustavo Munhoz registered an 8-5 win over Graham Battle (Boone, N.C.) and Hang Lak Choi (Newton, N.C.)
Lee-Daige won the first set in his opening singles match against Nunes, 6-0, before LMC’s top-flight player was forced to retire. Hayes responded for the Bobcats with a 6-1, 7-5 victory against Bloch, before Casali defeated Warren, 6-2, 6-4. Dhruva registered a 6-1, 6-0 win against Battle in the fourth singles flight, while Bafume defeated Tatai, 6-1, 6-3. Munhoz closed out the day with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Choi.
