The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team (2-6) picked up a 10-9 overtime win against Lake Erie (1-2) Wednesday afternoon at Moretz Stadium. Freshman Ned Kaish (Atlanta, Ga.) tallied his team-leading 16th goal of the season just 10 seconds into the extra
frame to lead the Bears to the win. Freshmen John Remsen (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Miles Britton (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) each scored twice to lead the Bears, who snapped a two-match losing streak. Britton also added two assists.
The Storm was led by Reagan Harding (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CANADA) with a match-high four goals while Keegan Bal (Coquitlam, British Columbia, CANADA) scored twice despite the loss. Lake Erie is receiving votes in the NCAA Division II USILA National Poll this week.
Three straight goals to start the second half pushed the Bears' advantage to 8-4 capped off by a score from freshman Imari Davis (San Diego, Calif.) with 11:28 left in the third period.
However, Lake Erie battled back outscored Lenoir-Rhyne by a 3-0 count in the fourth stanza to force overtime. Reagan's fourth and final goal of the contest came with 1:52 remaining in regulation which tied the score at nine and extended the match to extra time.
Lake Erie lost despite holding a 46-25 advantage in shots taken and a 39-35 edge in ground balls. L-R freshman Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) picked up the win in goal after tallying 14 saves on the day while Lake Erie's goalkeeper, Alex Wisner (Sylvania, Ohio), suffered the loss. Wisner stopped eight shots for the match.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Salisbury, N.C., to face Catawba in a Deep South Conference match on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Lake Erie plays Coker on Saturday in Hartsville, S.C., beginning at 1:00 p.m.
