Well, the Watauga High men's lacrosse team seems to be turning itself around. After winning just one game the last two years, the Pioneers (2-1 overall; 1-0 in district play) find themselves with a winning record and riding a modest two-game

winning streak for the first  time in school history.
The Pioneers pulled it off Tuesday night as they knocked off Patton 7-5 in Morganton in their district opener. Nick Williams led the way with three goals; Dominick Hamilton had two goals; Canyon Mueller had two assists. The Pioneers travel to Hickory Friday night. Match time is 7 p.m.

 


WHS WOMEN'S LACROSSE CRACKS WIN COLUMN

 


The Watauga High women's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the year by knocking off West Forsyth 19-17 in Clemmons. Olivia Li and Danielle Welsh paced the Pioneers (1-2) with five goals apiece. Katie Marks and Ava Moody each had three goals.
The JV team won, 8-4. Haley Ellison had four goals; Elle Sloboda and Kali Scott had two goals apiece. WHS travels to Kernersville to play Bishop McGuinness Friday night. It will be a varsity only match beginning at 6 p.m.

 


WHS NETMEN REMAIN UNBEATEN

 


The Watauga High men's tennis team defeated South Caldwell 8-1 Tuesday night in Sawmills in a Northwestern 3A/4A Conference match. Mike Smith, Harrison Battle, Landon Taylor, Chris Ludwig, Aaron Evans and Josh Lampkins were victorious in singles play; Smith and Evans, Battle and Ludwig picked up wins in doubles play. The Pioneers (4-0 overall; 3-0 NW3A/4A) travel to Newton-Conover for a non-conference match today.
