Xu Leads Women’s Golf at St. James PDF Print

Yue Xu  shaved five strokes off of her second-round score to finish in sixth place with a 79-82-77=238 (+22) at Richmond’s Spider at St. James over the weekend. Appalachian State University

women’s golf placed ninth with a 336-332-337=1005 (+141).
Rumbidzai Masamvu posted a solid showing with an 85-82-84=251 (+35) to tie for 28th place on the challenging 6,166-yard The Reserve. Junior Lauren Smith fired an 85-85-90=260 (+44) to finish 42nd.
Elena Thomas carded an 87-91-87=265 (+49) to tie in 51st place and Mimi Burke rounded out the Apps with a 98-83-89=270 (+54) in 55th place. Boston College and Charleston Southern tied for the team win at 963 (+99), 14 strokes ahead of third-place UNC Pembroke.
BC’s Katia Joo won the individual medal at 230 (+14).Also competing from the Southern Conference, Wofford placed seventh at 995 (+131) and The Citadel finished 12th with a 1080 (+216).
The Apps continue south to Ocala, Fla. for Morehead State’s Ocala Spring Invitational.
