Griewisch Earns All-American Honors At Nationals PDF Print

Lenoir-Rhyne's Kate Griewisch finished fourth out of 10 runners in the women's 5,000-meter run at the 2012 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Championships Saturday evening at the Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University Mankato. Griewisch, a senior from Banner Elk, N.C.,

ran a school-record 16:38.62 and earned indoor track and field All-American honors for her performance.
Grand Valley State's Rachel Patterson won the event and broke the national record with a time of 16:07.28.
Last season, Griewisch was one place off of earning All-American honors in the 5K after placing ninth overall in the indoor finals in Albuquerque, N.M.
Griewisch is a three-time NCAA Division II All-American in women's cross country (2009-11) and garnered All-American honors last year in NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field after finishing sixth in the women's 10,000-meter championship in Turlock, Calif.
Griewisch holds indoor school records in the one-mile run (5:03.20) and 3,000-meter run (10:11) as well.
An outstanding student as well, Griewisch was named to the 2011 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American Second Team for the Women's Track and Field & Cross Country College Division.
In addition, Griewisch was the 2010-11 female recipient of the South Atlantic Conference President's Award. The award is the highest honor the league gives out on an annual basis.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams return to competition on Saturday, March 24, in the VertlKlasse Meeting in High Point, N.C.
