LRU Women's Lacrosse Wins Fourth Straight PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (5-2) won its fourth straight match with a 15-9 victory over Grand Valley State (1-2) Wednesday night at Moretz Stadium. L-R freshman Mary Minick

(Marietta, Ga.) led all scorers with four goals while junior Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) added three goals and two assists as the Bears improved to 5-0 at home this season.
Three players scored twice for Grand Valley State - Allyson Fritts (Howell, Mich.), Brooke Ingraham (Rochester Hills, Mich.) and Rachel Leibovitz (Naperville, Ill.) - despite the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne scored the first five goals of the match and held a 13-4 advantage with 15:46 remaining in the contest after a score by sophomore Lacy Peterson (Hickory, N.C.) before Grand Valley State made one last push.
The Lakers reeled off four straight scores to cut the margin to 13-8 but the Bears tallied two of the last three goals in the final three minutes of play to take the win.
Sophomore Hayley Beaty (Dallas, N.C.) added three goals for the Bears, who held advantages in both shots taken (33-23) and ground balls (42-31) en route to the victory.
L-R freshman goalkeeper Allison Senft (Marietta, Ga.) stopped 10 shots after being credited with the win while Grand Valley State's Audrey Kobe (New Hudson, Mich.) suffered the loss despite tallying 12 saves on the night.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face Urbana (Ohio) on Saturday beginning at Noon while Grand Valley State plays Queens in Charlotte, N.C., on Friday at 2:00 p.m.


Pfeiffer Takes Down Lenoir-Rhyne, 18-9


The Pfeiffer University Men's Lacrosse Team (4-2) made it three in a row with an 18-9 victory Wednesday afternoon over Lenoir-Rhyne University (1-5) at N.E. Lefko Field.
The Falcons' Tucker Hammock (Marietta, Ga.) finished with a match-high five goals while James Shepherd (St. John, New Brunswick, CANADA) added three goals and three assists to spearhead Pfeiffer's offensive attack on the afternoon.
Lenoir-Rhyne was led by freshman Ned Kaish (Atlanta, Ga.) with two goals and two assists while sophomore Corron Boston (Durham, N.C.) and freshman John Remsen (Oceanside, N.Y.) scored twice as well despite the loss.
After Boston scored to cut the margin to 3-2 just 10 seconds into the second period, Pfeiffer responded with three consecutive goals to take control en route an 8-3 lead at halftime.
Cole Paciejewski (Prince George, British Columbia, CANADA) added three goals for Pfeiffer, who scored five times in each of the last three periods.
In goal, the Falcons' Hayden Kirk (Farmingdale, N.Y.) earned the win after stopping seven shots while freshman Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) suffered the setback. Squires tallied four saves on the day as well.
Lenoir-Rhyne also lost despite holding a 34-33 advantage in shots taken. Pfeiffer, meanwhile, held the edge in ground balls by a 30-26 count.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to take on Wingate in a Deep South Conference match on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m., at Moretz Stadium. Pfeiffer next plays at St. Leo (Florida) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
