LRU Women's Lacrosse Wins Third Straight PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (4-2) won its third consecutive match with a 20-2 victory over Wheeling Jesuit (0-4) Monday afternoon at Moretz Stadium. Lenoir-Rhyne has outscored

its last two opponents by a 43-5 count and put the match away early by scoring the first six goals just 3:07 into regulation and racing to a 14-1 lead entering intermission.
Freshmen Kirsten Smith (Dunkirk, Md.) and Madelyn Teel (Milton, Ga.) and junior Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) all scored three goals to lead the Bears to the win.
Freshman Lauren Donovan (Hollywood, Md.) added a goal and a match-high four assists for Lenoir-Rhyne, who also held the advantage in shots taken (38-11) and ground balls (49-36) in the victory.
Wheeling Jesuit's Sara Fitzsimon (Sacramento, Calif.) scored twice for the Cardinals while Sara Buckley (Austin, Texas) suffered the loss in goal despite stopping eight shots.
L-R sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Cotto (Fort Myers, Fla.) picked up her second win of the year as the Bears improved to 4-0 at home this season.
Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Grand Valley State (Mich.) on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Moretz Stadium while Wheeling Jesuit plays at Hollins in Roanoke, Va., on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
