Lees-McRae College junior Jeremiah Henry (Semmes, Ala.) has been named to the all-Conference Carolinas men's basketball team for the first time in his career, earning a spot on the league's third team, announced conference officials Friday. Henry led

Lees-McRae (9-17, 8-8 CC) to its most successful season in Coach Scott Polsgrove's tenure, posting the program's best record since joining Conference Carolinas en route to a berth in the league tournament. The Bobcats ranked second in the conference this season in field goal percentage defense, holding league opponents to a 43 percent clip from the floor while limiting their conference foes to a fourth-ranked scoring average of 70.1 points per game.
A native of Semmes, Ala., put together a career season with the Bobcats this winter, averaging 10.2 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game to earn on a spot on the all-conference third team. The 6-6, 210-pound forward posted six double-doubles this season, including a 12-point, 14-rebound performance in a 67-59 win at Limestone College on Jan. 5.
Henry is closing in on a career milestone in the Green and Gold, concluding the season with 433 points in his tenure with the Bobcats, needing just 67 markers next winter to reach the 500-point plateau for his career. The junior captain posted a solid 48.8 percent field goal percentage this season, knocking down 101-of-207 attempts from the floor.
Lees-McRae is expected to return 12 letter-winners from this year's squad, including rising seniors Henry, DJ Brown (Anderson, S.C.), Daniel Sepokas (Illawong, Australia), Corey Young (Bluff City, Tenn.), Chad Eppley (Boone, N.C.), Robert Hawthorne (Greenville, S.C.), and Juan Urbina (Barquisimeto, Venezuela).
