The West Caldwell High School Athletic Department announces that Danny Anderson will return as men’s basketball coach starting with the 2012-2013 season.  Coach Anderson was the coach of West Caldwell for 19 seasons, compiling a record of 431-109.  Three times he led the Warriors to the

state championship game.  In 29 years of coaching, Coach Anderson has 582 career wins.  He was a 2011 inductee into the Caldwell County Sports Hall of Fame.  Coach Anderson retired as athletic director and basketball coach on August 1, 2011 but will be returning to West Caldwell this spring as a substitute teacher.
Coach Anderson will inherit a squad that finished 19-7 in 2011-12, winning the CVAC regular season championship and advancing to the sectional finals of the state playoffs.  They were led by Hank Newson during the 2011-2012 season.
"We are excited about the return of Danny Anderson as men’s basketball coach at West Caldwell," said Principal Jeff Link.  "Coach Anderson is a tremendous teacher and coach and our student-athletes and community will benefit greatly from his leadership.  When Coach Anderson retired in August, we did not burn any bridges or shut any doors in case there was an opportunity for a return after “recharging his batteries.”  As great as a coach as he was before his retirement, I look forward to the seeing the re-energized Coach A leading our program and continuing the tradition of Warrior excellence in basketball.
"Hank Newson did an outstanding job as our basketball coach this season.  He took a young group and led them to a conference championship and to the sectional finals.  Coach Newson is a valuable member of the West Caldwell faculty/staff and I thank him for his hard work and efforts with our basketball program this season."
