The Hickory High women's basketball team made its way to the Class 3A Western Regional championship game Tuesday night. The Red Tornadoes (29-1), riding a 20-game winning streak,

defeated R-S Central 62-56 in the semifinals at Flemming Gymnasium at UNC-Greensboro. Andrea Miller led the Red Tornadoes with 20 points and 15 rebounds. But the win may have been costly as Danasia Witherspoon went down with a knee injury in the second quarter and Yazmin Hannah suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter with Hickory on top 58-49.
The Red Tornadoes will take on Harding University High in the regional championship game at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center Saturday at 12 noon. The Red Tornadoes were state finalists last year.
