The Lincoln Memorial Women's Basketball Team (14-12, 9-9) upset Lenoir-Rhyne University (19-8, 11-7), 71-64, in the South Atlantic Conference regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The Lady Railsplitters' Dayshalee Salaman (Carolina, PUERTO RICO) finished with a team-high 19 points and Kelsey Bradford (Metropolis, Ill.) added 15 points and hit all five three-point attempts
in the road win. Lincoln Memorial opened up an 18-4 lead and eventually held on to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne and split the season series with the Bears.
L-R guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.), the lone senior on the squad who was honored after the game, led all scorers with 20 points despite the loss. Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore guard Krystal Patton (Chilhowie, Va.) added 13 points off the bench but the Bears shot just 39 percent (25-of-65) from the field including 25 percent (five-of-20) from behind the three-point line. Lincoln Memorial led by as many as 15 points when Mariah Richardson (Lawrenceville, Ga.) hit a field goal with 8:18 remaining in the first half but Lenoir-Rhyne would cut the margin to 39-34 entering break.
L-R would eventually slice the lead to one point at 59-58 with 4:49 left but Lincoln Memorial responded with five straight points capped off by a trey from Bradford and the Bears never got within four points the rest of the way. Ralissa Nelson (Janesville, Wis.) added 15 points for the Lady Railsplitters, who hit eight three-pointers and shot 53 percent (eight-of-15) from three-point land.
In the first round of the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament on Wednesday, fourth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne hosts No. 5 Carson-Newman while seventh-seeded Lincoln Memorial visits No. 2 Catawba. Both contests are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. The semifinals and finals of the league tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, N.C.

No. 12 Lincoln Memorial Drops Bears, 64-49 On Senior Day
The 12th-ranked Lincoln Memorial Men's Basketball Team (24-4, 14-4) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (12-15, 8-10), 64-49, Saturday evening in the final South Atlantic Conference regular season game before the league tournament at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. Lincoln Memorial, the top-ranked squad in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll as well, was led by Vincent Bailey (Jennings, Fla.) with a team-high 14 points.
Wally Jones (Greensboro, N.C.) and C.J. Wakeley (Gainesville, Fla.) also scored in double figures for the Railsplitters as they finished with 13 and 10 points. With the win, Lincoln Memorial completed the season sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne as well. L-R sophomore guard Hunter McClintock (Durham, N.C.) came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points on five-of-six shooting including three treys but the Bears were done in by 33 percent (14-of-43) from the field.
Senior forward D.J. Blackmon (Albemarle, N.C.) added 10 points for Lenoir-Rhyne, who suffered its fourth straight loss. Lincoln Memorial was hot from the start and eventually took a 40-19 lead, its biggest of the game, with just 1:29 remaining before halftime on a three-pointer by Wakeley.
The Bears, who trailed at halftime by 18 points at 40-22, got to within nine points (47-38) midway through the second half but couldn't get any closer. Meanwhile, Lenoir-Rhyne honored its four seniors for the 2011-12 season prior to the contest: Blackmon, forward Jeff Thomas (Chapel Hill, N.C.) and guards Jon Hathcock (Concord, N.C.) and Kevin Davis (Charlotte, N.C.).
Lenoir-Rhyne will be the fifth seed in the 2012 Food Lion SAC Men's Basketball Tournament and will travel to Newberry, S.C., to face No. 4 Newberry. Lincoln Memorial, the second seed, will host seventh-seeded Tusculum. Both contests are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday.
The semifinals and finals of the league tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday at CVCC in Hickory, N.C., at the Tarleton Complex. The winner will advance to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament.
