Appalachian State’s Sebastien King (Montreal, Quebec/George Vanier) has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches February 13-19 as named by the conference office on Tuesday. King posted wins in both singles and doubles play

as the Mountaineers topped East Carolina 5-1 on Saturday. King opened the match at the top doubles position with teammate Philip Kloc (Melbourne, Australia/Mentone Grammar). The ASU tandem pulled out a late break point in an 8-6 win over ECU’s Joran Vliegen and Nicholas Soriano to help the Mountaineers claim the doubles point in the match.
A native of Montreal, Quebec, King earned a straight-sets win over Niels Cleeren (6-2, 6-2) at No. 4 singles to even his singles record at 2-2 on the season. His win gave the Mountaineers the match-clinching fourth point in the contest.
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included The Citadel’s Josh Cook, Davidson’s Connor Evins, and Georgia Southern’s Marco Osorio.
King’s Player of the Week nod is the first of his career. The Mountaineers return to action this weekend for three tough matches. The Apps will travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to face Gardner-Webb on Thursday before heading west to take on No. 74 ETSU on Saturday. Appalachian returns home on Sunday for a 11 a.m. match against Belmont.
