The Mars Hill College women's tennis team swept doubles play and won two of the top three singles flights en route to a 7-2 win over Lees-McRae College in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon. Mars Hill's duo of Erika Pinate and Tatiana Dualiby opened the day with an 8-1 win over

Lyndsay Peagram (Greensboro, N.C.) and Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), before Anna Rickenbaker and Jacqueline Rouquet registered an 8-0 victory against Kelsey Hiatt (Mt. Airy, N.C.) and Raven Harris (St. Pauls, N.C.) in the second flight. Mars Hill was then awarded the third doubles match by default.
Pinate gave the Lions a 4-0 advantage with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Peagram before Rickenbaker sealed the victory with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Hiatt in the third singles flight. Wohlers earned a hard-fought 7-6, 2-6, 10-3 win against Dualiby in the second flight, as Harris defeated Jordan Dockery in the fourth matchup, 6-0, 0-6, 11-9. Mars Hill was awarded the fifth and sixth singles flights by default.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Monday when the Bobcats travel to Newberry, S.C. to take on Newberry College at 1 p.m.

Lions edge Bobcats, 5-4

The Mars Hill College men's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and each of the first three singles flights en route to a 5-4 win over Lees-McRae College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.
Mars Hill's (3-3) duo of Euquerio Guerrero and Lucas Simm kicked off the afternoon with an 8-5 win over Lees-McRae's (0-2) Pedro De Sousa Nunes (Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil) and Skylar Warren (Asheville, N.C.) in the top doubles flight, before Enrico Patriarca and Guilherme Lima gave the Lions a 2-0 advantage with an 8-1 victory against Alexander Hayes (Mexico City, Mexico) and Marcelo Tatai (Sao Paulo, Brazil).
The Bobcats' Hang Lak Choi (Newton, N.C.) and Graham Battle (Boone, N.C.) halved the margin to 2-1 with an 8-1 victory over Zach High and Michael Melvill in the third flight, as Patriarca defeated Hayes 6-2, 6-3 in the opening singles matchup. Simm followed with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Nunes, as Guerrero bested Warren in the third flight, 7-6, 6-1 to hand Mars Hill the victory.
Battle registered a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lima in the fourth flight, as Tatai defeated High, 6-4, 6-3. Choi rounded out the day with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-2 victory against Melvill. Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Monday when the Bobcats travel to Newberry, S.C. to take on Newberry College in non-conference play at 1 p.m.
