The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (19-6, 11-5) moved into a first-place tie in the South Atlantic Conference standings after defeating Brevard (6-18, 1-15), 66-59, Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Gymnasium.
Senior guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) finished with a team-high
14 points for Lenoir-Rhyne, who has now moved into a tie for first in the conference standings with Catawba and Wingate.
Freshman guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) and sophomore guard Krystal Patton (Chilhowie, Va.) added 12 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne also won its third straight game and improved to 13-0 all-time against Brevard.
The Tornados' Michaela Watkins (Forest City, N.C.) led all scorers with 19 points while Anna Schlobohm (Greensboro, N.C.) added 10 points despite the setback.
Lenoir-Rhyne forged ahead to a 44-32 lead with 14:59 remaining in the second half before Brevard cut the margin to 60-57 on a jump shot by Schlobohm with 1:47 left but the Bears ended the game with an 6-2 run to seal the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne held a 43-32 edge in rebounding and limited Brevard to just 38 percent shooting (23-of-61) for the contest.
L-R stays on the road to take on Tusculum in Greeneville, Tenn., while Brevard remains at home to face Newberry. Both South Atlantic Conference contest begin at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday.

Brevard Shoots By L-R, 88-75
The Brevard College Men's Basketball Team (5-21, 4-12) connected on 15 three-pointers en route to an 88-75 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (12-13, 8-8) in a South Atlantic Conference game Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Gymnasium.
Brevard's Drew Schauss (Greens Fork, Ind.) finished with a team-high 25 points and hit six three-pointers while Gaither Hendrix (Lenoir, N.C.) added 18 points and four treys as the Tornados hit 61 percent (30-of-49) of their shots including 58 percent (15-of-26) from behind the three-point line.
Lenoir-Rhyne lost despite a combined 55 points from senior forward D.J. Blackmon (Albemarle, N.C.) and sophomore forward Allan Jones (Clemmons, N.C.).
Blackmon scored a season-high 31 points while Jones tied a career-high with 24 points. Both players shot 11-of-15 from the field.
The Tornados put the game away with 19-8 run early in the second half capped off by a pair of free throws from Hendrix for a 61-47 lead with 14:27 remaining in the game.
The Bears, who shot 56 percent (30-of-54) for the contest despite the loss, could get any closer than nine points the rest of the way.
Jermichael Tanner (Columbus, N.C.) added 16 points and hit a pair of three-pointers on the day for the Tornados, who avenged an earlier loss to the Bears this season.
In the next round of South Atlantic Conference games on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m., Lenoir-Rhyne visits Tusculum while Brevard plays host to Newberry.
