Two former Watauga High Pioneers squared off against each other Saturday in Winston-Salem. Shelby Drummonds, who was named All-State as a junior and is now a freshman at Salem College, and Tori Wright, a freshman at Peace College, began

their collegiate careers on a spring-like afternoon in mid-February.
Drummonds was 1-8 in the double-header with a run scored and a run-batted-in. Pitching-wise, Drummonds, who lost game one and picked up a win in relief in game two, went 7 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, she struck out four and walked four. Wright was 1-7 on the day with her only hit being a double in game one.
Peace College won the opener 2-0; Salem won the night cap 19-18, thanks to a 12-run rally in the fifth inning.
